اِذَا السَّمَآءُ انۡفَطَرَتۡ ۙ﴿۱﴾
1
WHEN THE SKY is split asunder,

When the heaven splits open.

When the heaven shall be cleft,

When the heaven is cleft asunder.

When the sky breaks apart.

When the heaven is split asunder,

And the stars dispersed,

And when the stars have fallen and scattered;

When the planets are scattered.

When the oceans begin to flow,

And when the seas are flowed out,

And when the seas are burst forth (got dried up);

When the oceans are exploded.

when the seas are made to burst forth,

And when the seas Fujjirat.

When the seas are poured forth,

when the oceans are gushed forth,

And when the seas are erupted

And when the seas are made to flow forth,

when the seas overflow;

When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth;

اور جب سمندر بہ پڑیں۔

اور سمندر پھاڑ دیئے جائیں گے

وَ اِذَا الۡقُبُوۡرُ بُعۡثِرَتۡ ۙ﴿۴﴾
4
When the graves are overturned,

And when the graves are overturned.

And when the graves are ransacked,
— Daryabadi
And when the graves are turned upside down (and they bring out their contents)
— Hilali
When the tombs are strewn around.
— Itani
and when graves are laid open,
— Maududi
And when the graves Bu`thirat.
— Mubarakpuri
And the sepulchres are overturned,
— Pickthall
when the graves are overturned,
— Qaribullah
And when the [contents of] graves are scattered,
— Sahih
And when the graves are laid open,
— Shakir
and when the graves are laid open:

And when the Graves are turned upside down;-

اور جب قبریں شق کردی جائیں۔

اور قبریں زیر و زبر کردی جائیں گی

عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتۡ وَ اَخَّرَتۡ ؕ﴿۵﴾
5
Each soul will know what it had sent ahead and what it had left behind.
— Ahmedali
Every soul will come to know what it has sent ahead and what it left behind.
— Ahmedraza
Each soul shall know that which it sent afore and that which it left behind.
— Daryabadi
(Then) a person will know what he has sent forward and (what he has) left behind (of good or bad deeds).
— Hilali
Each soul will know what it has advanced, and what it has deferred.
— Itani
everyone shall know all his deeds, both the earlier and the later.
— Maududi
A person will know what he has sent forward and left behind.
— Mubarakpuri
A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind.
— Pickthall
the soul shall know what it has done, the former and the latter.
— Qaribullah
A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.
— Sahih
Every soul shall know what it has sent before and held back.
— Shakir
then everyone will know what he has sent ahead, and what he has left behind.
— Wahiduddin
(Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back.
— Yusufali
(تو اس وقت) ہر شخص اپنے اگلے اور پچھلے اعمال کو جان لے گا
— عبدالماجد دریابادی
(اس دن) ہر شخص جان لے گا کہ اس نے آگے کیا بھیجا اور پیچھے کیا چھوڑا
— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی
ہر شخص جان لے گا جو اس نے آگے بھیجا اور جو پیچھے چھوڑا۔

ہر جان، جان لے گی جو اس نے آگے بھیجا اور جو پیچھے

تب ہر جان کو پتہ چلے گا کہ اس کے کیا آگے بھیجا اور کیا پیچھے چھوڑا۔

(اُس وقت) ہر جان جان لے گی کہ اس نے کیا آگے بھیجا اور کیا پیچھے چھوڑا۔

تب ہر شخص معلوم کرلے گا کہ اس نے آگے کیا بھیجا تھا اور پیچھے کیا چھوڑا تھا

(اس وقت) ہر شخص اپنے آگے بھیجے ہوئے اور پیچھے چھوڑے ہوئے (یعنی اگلے پچھلے اعمال) کو معلوم کر لے گا

اس وقت ہر شخص کو پتہ چل جائے گا کہ اس نے کیا آگے بھیجا اور کیا پیچھے چھوڑا۔

اُس وقت ہر شخص کو اُس کا اگلا پچھلا سب کیا دھرا معلوم ہو جائے گا

تو ہر شخص جان لے گا کہ کیا عمل اس نے آگے بھیجا اور (کیا) پیچھے چھوڑ آیا تھا،

then a soul shall know its works, the former and the latter.

then a soul shall know what it has sent ahead and left behind.

every soul will see the result of its deeds - those recorded before his death and those which will produce either virtue or evil after his death.

یٰۤاَیُّہَا الۡاِنۡسَانُ مَا غَرَّکَ بِرَبِّکَ الۡکَرِیۡمِ ۙ﴿۶﴾
6
O man, what seduced you from your munificent Lord
— Ahmedali
O man! What has deceived you away from your Lord, the Most Beneficent?
— Ahmedraza
O man! what hath beguiled thee concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful,
— Daryabadi
O man! What has made you careless concerning your Lord, the Most Generous?
— Hilali
O man! What deluded you concerning your Lord, the Most Generous?
— Itani
O man! What has deceived you about your generous Lord
— Maududi
O man! What has made you careless about your Lord, the Most Generous
— Mubarakpuri
O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful,
— Pickthall
O human! What has deceived you concerning your Generous Lord
— Qaribullah
O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,
— Sahih
O man! what has beguiled you from your Lord, the Gracious one,
— Shakir
O man! What is it that lures you away from your bountiful Sustainer,
— Wahiduddin
O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent?-
— Yusufali
اے انسان تجھے (آخر) کس چیز نے اپنے پروردگار کریم سے متعلق بھول میں ڈال رکھا ہے۔
— عبدالماجد دریابادی
اے انسان ! تجھے اپنے رب کریم سے کس چیز نے دھوکے میں ڈالے رکھا
— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی
اے انسان ! تجھے تیرے نہایت کرم والے رب کے متعلق کس چیز نے دھوکا دیا ؟

اے آدمی! تجھے کس چیز نے فریب دیا اپنے کرم والے رب سے

اے انسان ! تجھے تیرے رب کریم کے باب میں کس چیز نے دھوکے میں ڈال رکھا ہے !

اے انسان ! تجھے کس چیز نے دھوکے میں ڈال دیا ہے اپنے ربّ کریم کے بارے میں۔

اے انسان تجھ کو اپنے پروردگار کرم گستر کے باب میں کس چیز نے دھوکا دیا

اے انسان! تجھے اپنے رب کریم سے کس چیز نے بہکایا

اے انسان ! تجھے کس چیز نے اپنے اس پروردگار کے معاملے میں دھوکا لگا دیا ہے جو بڑا کرم والا ہے۔

اے انسان، کس چیز نے تجھے اپنے اُس رب کریم کی طرف سے دھوکے میں ڈال دیا

O Man! What deceived thee as to thy generous Lord

O man! What has deceived you about your generous Lord,

Human being, what evil has deceived you about your Gracious Lord,

الَّذِیۡ خَلَقَکَ فَسَوّٰٮکَ فَعَدَلَکَ ۙ﴿۷﴾
7
Who created you then formed your symmetry, then gave you right proportion,
— Ahmedali
The One Who created you, then moulded you, then made you proper?
— Ahmedraza
Who created thee, then moulded thee, then proportioned thee?
— Daryabadi
Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion;
— Hilali
He Who created you, and formed you, and proportioned you?
— Itani
Who created you, shaped you, and made you well-proportioned,
— Maududi
Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion.
— Mubarakpuri
Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee?
— Pickthall
who created you, formed you and proportioned you?
— Qaribullah
Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?
— Sahih
Who created you, then made you complete, then made you symmetrical?
— Shakir
who created you, fashioned you and proportioned you,
— Wahiduddin
Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias;

(وہ پروردگار) جس نے تجھے پید ا کیا پھر تجھے درست کیا پھر تجھے اعتدال پر بنایا

جس نے تجھے پیدا کیا، پھر درست کیا پھر متوازن بنایا

وہ جس نے تجھے پیدا کیا، پھر تجھے درست کیا، پھر تجھے برابر کیا۔

جس نے تجھے پیدا کیا پھر ٹھیک بنایا پھر ہموار فرمایا

جس نے تیرا خاکہ بنایا، پھر تیرے نوک پلک سنوارے اور تجھے بالکل موزوں کیا !

جس نے تمہیں تخلیق کیا پھر تمہارے نوک پلک سنوارے پھر تمہارے اندر اعتدال پیدا کیا۔

(وہی تو ہے) جس نے تجھے بنایا اور (تیرے اعضا کو) ٹھیک کیا اور (تیرے قامت کو) معتدل رکھا

جس (رب نے) تجھے پیدا کیا، پھر ٹھیک ٹھاک کیا، پھر (درست اور) برابر بنایا

جس نے تجھے پیدا کیا پھر تجھے ٹھیک ٹھیک بنایا، پھر تیرے اندر اعتدال پیدا کیا ؟

جس نے تجھے پیدا کیا، تجھے نک سک سے درست کیا، تجھے متناسب بنایا

جس نے (رحم مادر کے اندر ایک نطفہ میں سے) تجھے پیدا کیا، پھر اس نے تجھے (اعضا سازی کے لئے ابتداءً) درست اور سیدھا کیا، پھر وہ تیری ساخت میں متناسب تبدیلی لایا،

who created thee and shaped thee and wrought thee in symmetry

who created you and proportioned you, and gave you an upright nature,

Who created you proportionately and fashioned you

فِیۡۤ اَیِّ صُوۡرَۃٍ مَّا شَآءَ رَکَّبَکَ ؕ﴿۸﴾
8
Shaping you into any form He pleased?
— Ahmedali
He moulded you into whatever shape He willed.
— Ahmedraza
In whatsoever form He listed He constructed thee.
— Daryabadi
In whatever form He willed, He put you together.
— Hilali
In whatever shape He willed, He assembled you.
— Itani
and set you in whatever form He pleased?
— Maududi
In whatever form He willed, He put you together.
— Mubarakpuri
Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee.
— Pickthall
In whatever shape He will He could surely have fashioned you.
— Qaribullah
In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.
— Sahih
Into whatever form He pleased He constituted you.
— Shakir
in whatever form He pleased?
— Wahiduddin
In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together.

(اور) جس صورت میں بھی چاہا تجھے ترکیب دے دیا۔

(اور) جس صورت میں بھی اس نے چاہا تمہیں جوڑ جاڑ کر تیار کردیا

جس صورت میں بھی اس نے چاہا تجھے جوڑ دیا۔

جس صورت میں چاہا تجھے ترکیب دیا

جس شکل پر چاہا تجھے مشکل کردیا !

جس صورت میں بھی چاہا اس نے تجھے ترکیب دے دیا،

and composed thee after what form He would?

and composed you in any form that He wished?

in whatever composition He wanted.

کَلَّا بَلۡ تُکَذِّبُوۡنَ بِالدِّیۡنِ ۙ﴿۹﴾
9
Even then you deny the Judgement.
— Ahmedali
Not at all – but rather you deny the establishment of Justice.
— Ahmedraza
By no means! Aye, ye belie the the Requital.
— Daryabadi
Nay! But you deny the Recompense (reward for good deeds and punishment for evil deeds).
— Hilali
But you reject the religion.
— Itani
No indeed; (the fact is that) you deny the Reckoning, declaring it a lie;
— Maududi
Nay! But you deny (the Day of) Ad-Din.
— Mubarakpuri
Nay, but ye deny the Judgment.
— Pickthall
Rather, you belied the Recompense.
— Qaribullah
No! But you deny the Recompense.
— Sahih
Nay! but you give the lie to the judgment day,
— Shakir
Yet you deny the Last Judgement.
— Wahiduddin
Nay! But ye do reject Right and Judgment!
— Yusufali
(تجھے مغرور) ہرگز نہیں (ہونا چاہئے تھا) اصل یہ کہ تم جزاء ہی کو جھٹلاتے ہو۔

ہرگز نہیں بلکہ تم تو روز جزا کو جھٹلاتے ہو
— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی
ہرگز نہیں، بلکہ تم جزا کو جھٹلاتے ہو۔

کوئی نہیں بلکہ تم انصاف ہونے کو جھٹلانتے ہو

ہرگز نہیں، بلکہ تم جزا کو جھٹلاتے ہو۔

ہرگز نہیں ! بلکہ اصل میں تم جزا و سزا کا انکار کر رہے ہو۔

مگر ہیہات تم لوگ جزا کو جھٹلاتے ہو

ہرگز نہیں بلکہ تم تو جزا وسزا کے دن کو جھٹلاتے ہو

ہرگز ایسا نہیں ہونا چاہیے۔ لیکن تم جزاء و سزا کو جھٹلاتے ہو۔

ہرگز نہیں، بلکہ (اصل بات یہ ہے کہ) تم لوگ جزا و سزا کو جھٹلاتے ہو

حقیقت تو یہ ہے (اور) تم اِس کے برعکس روزِ جزا کو جھٹلاتے ہو،

No indeed; but you cry lies to the Doom;

No! Indeed, you deny the Retribution.

Despite this, you deny the Day of Judgment,
— Sarwar
وَ اِنَّ عَلَیۡکُمۡ لَحٰفِظِیۡنَ ﴿ۙ۱۰﴾
10
Surely there are guardians over you,
— Ahmedali
And indeed there are some guardians over you.
— Ahmedraza
Verify there are for you guardians,
— Daryabadi
But verily, over you (are appointed angels in charge of mankind) to watch you.
— Hilali
Though over you are watchers.
— Itani
you do so the while there are watchers over you;
— Maududi
But verily, over you to watch you
— Mubarakpuri
Lo! there are above you guardians,
— Pickthall
Yet over you there are watchers,
— Qaribullah
And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,
— Sahih
And most surely there are keepers over you
— Shakir
Surely, there are guardians watching over you,
— Wahiduddin
But verily over you (are appointed angels) to protect you,-
— Yusufali
درآنحالیکہ تمہارے اوپر (ہماری طرف سے) یاد رکھنے والے
— عبدالماجد دریابادی
حالانکہ تم پر نگران مقرر ہیں
— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی
حالانکہ بلاشبہ تم پر یقینا نگہبان (مقرر) ہیں۔

اور بیشک تم پر کچھ نگہبان ہیں

حالانکہ تم پر نگران مامور ہیں ،

حالانکہ تم پر نگران (فرشتے) مقرر ہیں۔

Indeed, there are over you watchers,

but you should know that there are angelic guards

کِرَامًا کَاتِبِیۡنَ ﴿ۙ۱۱﴾

Illustrious scribes

The honourable recorders.
— Ahmedraza
Honourablel scribes.
— Daryabadi
Kiraman (honourable) Katibin writing down (your deeds).
— Hilali
Honest recorders.
— Itani
noble scribes,
— Maududi
Kiraman Katibin,
— Mubarakpuri
Generous and recording,
— Pickthall
noble scribes
— Qaribullah
Noble and recording;
— Sahih
Honorable recorders,
— Shakir
noble recorders,
— Wahiduddin
Kind and honourable,- Writing down (your deeds):
— Yusufali
معزز لکھنے والے (مقرر) ہیں
— عبدالماجد دریابادی
جو معزز ہیں اعمال لکھنے والے
— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی

It is the day when no soul will have power to do the least for a soul, and God's alone will be done.

The day on which no soul will have the authority over any other soul; and on that day, the entire command belongs to Allah.

It is a Day whereon no soul shall own aught of power for any soul; and the command on that Day will be Allah's.
— Daryabadi
(It will be) the Day when no person shall have power (to do) anything for another, and the Decision, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah.

The Day when no soul will avail another soul anything; and the decision on that Day is God’s.

It is the Day when no one shall have the power to do anything for another, and all command shall be Allah's.

(It will be) the Day when no person shall have power for another, and the Decision, that Day, will be with Allah.

A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's.

وہ دن وہ ہے کہ کسی کا بس کسی کے لئے کچھ نہ چلے گا اور حکومت اس روز (تمام تر) اللہ ہی کی ہوگی۔

جس دن کوئی کسی دوسرے کے لیے کچھ بھی نہ کرسکے گا اور اس دن حکم صرف اللہ کا چلے گا
