Nobal Quran

وَ الۡمُرۡسَلٰتِ عُرۡفًا ۙ﴿۱﴾

1

I CALL TO WITNESS those who are sent consecutively,

— Ahmedali

By oath of those that are sent, one after the other. (The verses of the Holy Qur’an or the angels or the winds).

— Ahmedraza

By the winds sent forth with beneficence.

— Daryabadi

By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another.

— Hilali

By those unleashed in succession.

— Itani

By the (winds) sent forth in quick succession,

— Maududi

By the Mursalat `Urfa.

— Mubarakpuri

By the emissary winds, (sent) one after another

— Pickthall

By (the wind) those sent (as horses') mane (in succession),

— Qaribullah

By those [winds] sent forth in gusts

— Sahih

I swear by the emissary winds, sent one after another (for men's benefit),

— Shakir

By the winds sent forth in swift succession,

— Wahiduddin

By the (Winds) sent forth one after another (to man's profit);

— Yusufali

قسم ہے ان ہواؤں کی جو بھیجی جاتی ہیں

ان ہواؤں کی قسم جو دھیرے دھیرے چلتی ہیں

قسم ہے ان (ہواؤں) کی جو جانے پہچانے معمول کے مطابق چھوڑی جاتی ہیں !

قسم ان کی جو بھیجی جاتی ہیں لگاتار

By the [angelic] emissaries sent successively,

فَالۡعٰصِفٰتِ عَصۡفًا ۙ﴿۲﴾

2

And those that strike violently,

— Ahmedali

Then by oath of those that push with a strong gust.

— Ahmedraza

And those raging swiftly;

— Daryabadi

And by the winds that blow violently,

— Hilali

Storming turbulently.

— Itani

which then blow tempestuously

— Maududi

The `Asifat `Asfa.

— Mubarakpuri

By the raging hurricanes,

— Pickthall

storming tempestuously

— Qaribullah

And the winds that blow violently

— Sahih

By the raging hurricanes,

— Shakir

and then storming on with a tempest's force,

— Wahiduddin

Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts,

— Yusufali

پھر ان کی جو تندی سے چلتی ہیں

پھر زور پکڑ کر جھکڑ بن جاتی ہیں

پھر جو تند ہو کر تیز چلنے والی ہیں !

پھر زور سے جھونکا دینے والیاں،

پس وہ اڑاتی ہیں غبار ‘ اندھا دھند

by those who sweep along like gale,

by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds,

وَّ النّٰشِرٰتِ نَشۡرًا ۙ﴿۳﴾

3

And those that revive by quickening,

— Ahmedali

Then by oath of those that lift and carry.

— Ahmedraza

By the spreading winds spreading.

— Daryabadi

And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain;

— Hilali

Scattering far and wide.

— Itani

and raise (clouds) and scatter them around,

— Maududi

And the Nashirat Nashra.

— Mubarakpuri

By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive;

— Pickthall

and by the scatterers scattering (rain)

— Qaribullah

And [by] the winds that spread [clouds]

— Sahih

Which scatter clouds to their destined places,

— Shakir

and the rain-spreading winds,

— Wahiduddin

And scatter (things) far and wide;

— Yusufali

اور ان ہواؤں کی جو (بادلوں کو) پھیلاتی ہیں

— عبدالماجد دریابادی

اور (بادلوں کو) اٹھا کر پھیلا دیتی ہیں

— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی

اور جو (بادلوں کو اٹھاکر) پھیلا دینے والی ہیں ! خوب پھیلانا۔

پھر ابھار کر اٹھانے والیاں

اور شاہد ہیں ہوائیں پھیلانے والی (بادلوں کو)۔

by the scatterers scattering

by those who publish [the Divine messages] far and wide,

— Qarai

by (the angels) spreading (the words of God) far and wide,

— Sarwar

فَالۡفٰرِقٰتِ فَرۡقًا ۙ﴿۴﴾

4

And those that distinguish distinctly,

— Ahmedali

Then by those that clearly differentiate the right and wrong.

— Ahmedraza

And the scattering wind scattering.

— Daryabadi

And by the Verses (of the Quran) that separate the right from the wrong.

— Hilali

Separating decisively.

— Itani

then winnow them thoroughly,

— Maududi

The Fariqat that separate.

— Mubarakpuri

By those who winnow with a winnowing,

— Pickthall

then the criterion (the verses of Koran), separating

— Qaribullah

And those [angels] who bring criterion

— Sahih

Then separate them one from another,

— Shakir

separating one from another,

— Wahiduddin

Then separate them, one from another,

— Yusufali

پھر ان کی جو (انہیں) متفرق کردیتی ہیں

— عبدالماجد دریابادی

پھر انہیں پھاڑ کر جدا کرتی ہیں

پھر جو (انھیں) پھاڑ کر جدا جدا کردینے والی ہیں !

پھر حق ناحق کو خوب جدا کرنے والیاں،

by those who separate [the truth from falsehood] distinctly,

by (the angels) who make a clear distinction between right and wrong

— Sarwar

فَالۡمُلۡقِیٰتِ ذِکۡرًا ۙ﴿۵﴾

5

And those that bring down the Reminder

— Ahmedali

And then by those that instil Remembrance into the hearts.

— Ahmedraza

And those winds that bring down the remembrance.

— Daryabadi

And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers,

— Hilali

Delivering a message.

— Itani

and then cast (Allah's) remembrance (in people's hearts),

— Maududi

The Mulqiyat that remind,

— Mubarakpuri

By those who bring down the Reminder,

— Pickthall

and those (angels) dropping, reminding

— Qaribullah

And those [angels] who deliver a message

— Sahih

Then I swear by the angels who bring down the revelation,

— Shakir

by those who bring down the reminder,

— Wahiduddin

Then spread abroad a Message,

— Yusufali

پھر ان کی جو یاد (الہی) کا القاء کرتی رہتی ہیں

— عبدالماجد دریابادی

پھر (دلوں میں اللہ کی) یاد ڈالتی ہیں

— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی

پھر جو (دلوں میں) یاد (الٰہی) ڈالنے والی ہیں !

پھر ان کی قسم جو ذکر کا لقا کرتی ہیں

پھر ڈالتی ہیں یاد دہانی

and by those who reveal revelations (to the prophets)

عُذۡرًا اَوۡ نُذۡرًا ۙ﴿۶﴾

6

To end all argument or to warn.

— Ahmedali

To complete the argument or to warn.

— Ahmedraza

By way of excuse or warning.

— Daryabadi

To cut off all excuses or to warn;

— Hilali

Excusing or warning.

— Itani

to serve as an excuse or a warning.

— Maududi

Excusing or warning.

— Mubarakpuri

To excuse or to warn,

— Pickthall

excusing or warning,

— Qaribullah

As justification or warning,

— Sahih

To clear or to warn.

— Shakir

to excuse some and warn others:

— Wahiduddin

Whether of Justification or of Warning;-

تو بہ سے یا ڈرانے سے

عذر کی صورت میں یا ڈرانے کی صورت میں

عذر کے لیے، یا ڈرانے کے لیے۔

حجت تمام کرنے یا ڈرانے کو،

اتمام حجت کے طور پر یا آگاہ کردینے کو۔

عذر کے طور پر یا خبردار کرنے کے لیے۔

What is promised will surely come to pass.

— Ahmedali

Indeed what you are promised, will surely befall.

— Ahmedraza

Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall.

— Daryabadi

Surely, what you are promised must come to pass.

— Hilali

Surely what you are promised will happen.

— Itani

Surely what you are promised shall come to pass.

— Maududi

Surely, what you are promised will occur.

— Mubarakpuri

Surely that which ye are promised will befall.

— Pickthall

surely, that which you have been promised is about to fall!

— Qaribullah

Indeed, what you are promised is to occur.

— Sahih

Most surely what you are threatened with must come to pass.

— Shakir

that which you have been promised shall be fulfilled.

Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass.

جس چیز کا تم سے وعدہ کیا جارہا ہے وہ ضرور واقع ہوکر رہے گی۔

کہ جس چیز کا تم سے وعدہ کیا جاتا ہے وہ ضرور واقع ہو کے رہے گی

بیشک تم سے جس چیز کا وعدہ کیا جاتا ہے یقینا ہو کر رہنے والی ہے۔

When the stars are obliterated,

So when the lights of the stars are put out.

So when stars are effaced.

— Daryabadi

Then when the stars lose their lights;

— Hilali

When the stars are obliterated.

— Itani

So when the stars are extinguished,

— Maududi

Then when the stars lose their lights.

So when the stars are put out,

When the stars are extinguished,

So when the stars are obliterated

So when the stars are made to lose their light,

When the stars lose their light,

Then when the stars become dim;

سو جس وقت کہ ستارے بےنور ہوجائیں گے

جب ستارے بےنور ہوجائیں گے

پس جب ستارے مٹا دیے جائیں گے۔

پھر جب تارے محو کردیے جائیں،

وَ اِذَا السَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتۡ ۙ﴿۹﴾

9

The heavens split asunder,

And when the sky is split apart.

And when the heaven is cloven asunder.

— Daryabadi

And when the heaven is cleft asunder;

— Hilali

And the sky is fractured.

— Itani

and the sky is rent asunder,

— Maududi

And when Furijat the heaven.

— Mubarakpuri

And when the sky is riven asunder,

— Pickthall

and when the sky is rent asunder

— Qaribullah

And when the heaven is opened

— Sahih

And when the heaven is rent asunder,

— Shakir

and when the sky is rent asunder,

— Wahiduddin

When the heaven is cleft asunder;

— Yusufali

اور جس وقت آسمان پھٹ جائے گا

— عبدالماجد دریابادی

اور آسمان پھاڑ دیا جائے گا

اور جب آسمان کھولا جائے گا۔

— عبدالسلام بھٹوی

اور جب آسمان میں رخنے پڑیں،

آسمان پھٹ جائے گا ‘

اور جب آسمان میں شگاف پڑجائیں گے۔

اور جب آسمان پھٹ جائے

اور جب آسمان توڑ پھوڑ دیا جائے گا

اور جب آسمان کو چیر دیا جائے گا۔

اور جب آسمانی کائنات میں شگاف ہو جائیں گے،

when heaven shall be split

Heavens will rent asunder.

وَ اِذَا الۡجِبَالُ نُسِفَتۡ ﴿ۙ۱۰﴾

10

The mountains reduced to dust and blown away,

— Ahmedali

And when the mountains are made into dust and blown away.

— Ahmedraza

And when the mountains are carried away by wind.

— Daryabadi

And when the mountains are blown away;

— Hilali

And the mountains are blown away.

— Itani

and the mountains are blown away,

— Maududi

And when the mountains are blown away.

— Mubarakpuri

And when the mountains are blown away,

— Pickthall

and the mountains scattered,

— Qaribullah

And when the mountains are blown away

— Sahih

And when the mountains are carried away as dust,

— Shakir

and when the mountains crumble into dust

— Wahiduddin

When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust;

اور جس وقت پہاڑ اڑتے پھریں گے۔

اور پہاڑ ریزہ ریزہ کرکے اڑا دیئے جائیں گے

اور جب پہاڑ اڑا دیے جائیں گے۔

اور جب پہاڑ غبار کرکے اڑا دیے جا ئیں،

پہاڑ ریزہ ریزہ کردیئے جائیں گے

اور جب پہاڑ (ریت بنا کر) اُڑا دیے جائیں گے۔

اور جب پہاڑ اُڑے اُڑے پھریں

اور جب پہاڑ ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کر کے اڑا دیئے جائیں گے

اور جب پہاڑ ریزہ ریزہ کردئے جائیں گے۔

اور پہاڑ دھنک ڈالے جائیں گے

اور جب پہاڑ (ریزہ ریزہ کر کے) اُڑا دیے جائیں گے،

when the mountains shall be scattered

when the mountains are scattered [like dust]

The mountains will be blown away as dust.

وَ اِذَا الرُّسُلُ اُقِّتَتۡ ﴿ؕ۱۱﴾

11

And when the time comes for raising the little girls (buried alive) --

— Ahmedali

And when the time of the Noble Messengers arrives.

— Ahmedraza

And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time,

— Daryabadi

And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed;

— Hilali

And the messengers are alerted.

— Itani

and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass).

— Maududi

And when the Messengers are Uqqitat.

— Mubarakpuri

And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed -

— Pickthall

and when the Messengers' time is set

— Qaribullah

And when the messengers' time has come...

— Sahih

And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time

— Shakir

and when the messengers are brought together at the appointed time --

— Wahiduddin

And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect);-

— Yusufali

اور جب (سب) پیغمبر وقت (معین) پر جمع کئے جائیں گے (وہ وقت فیصلہ کا ہوگا)۔

اور رسولوں (کی حاضری) کا وقت آپہنچے گا

اور جب (وہ وقت آجائے گا) جو رسولوں کے ساتھ مقرر کیا گیا۔

اور جب رسولوں کا وقت آئے

اور رسولوں کے لئے وقت مقرر ہوگا…

اور جب رسولوں ؑ (کے کھڑے ہونے) کا وقت آپہنچے گا۔

اور جب پیغمبر فراہم کئے جائیں

اور جب رسولوں کو وقت مقرره پر ﻻیا جائے گا

اور جب پیغمبروں کے جمع ہونے کا وقت آجائے گا۔

اور رسولوں کی حاضری کا وقت آ پہنچے گا (اس روز وہ چیز واقع ہو جائے گی)

اور جب پیغمبر وقتِ مقررہ پر (اپنی اپنی اُمتوں پر گواہی کے لئے) جمع کئے جائیں گے،

and when the Messengers' time is set,

The Messengers will receive their appointments.

لِاَیِّ یَوۡمٍ اُجِّلَتۡ ﴿ؕ۱۲﴾

12

For what day is that time fixed?

— Ahmedali

For which day were they appointed?

— Ahmedraza

For what day is it timed?

— Daryabadi

For what Day are these signs postponed?

— Hilali

Until which day is it deferred?

— Itani

To which Day has this task been deferred?

— Maududi

For what Day are these signs postponed

— Mubarakpuri

For what day is the time appointed?

— Pickthall

to what day shall they be deferred?

— Qaribullah

For what Day was it postponed?

— Sahih

To what day is the doom fixed?

— Shakir

for what Day has this been appointed?

— Wahiduddin

For what Day are these (portents) deferred?

— Yusufali

کس دن کے لئے یہ ملتوی رکھا گیا ہے ؟

بھلا کس دن کے لیے (ان امور میں) تاخیر کی گئی ؟

Then We lodged you in a secure place (the womb)

Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb),

Then lodged it in a secure place?

which We then placed in a secure repository

Then We facilitated (your birth). How well do We calculate!

So We decreed. How excellent are We as decreers!

So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things).

We measured precisely. We are the best to measure.

See that We had the power to do so. Great indeed is Our power to do what We will.

Thus We arranged. How excellent is Our arranging!

We determined, how excellent a Determiner are We!

And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine.

So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things).

Thus We have determined the stages of development and Our power to determine is excellent indeed.

For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things).

And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink?

And We placed high mountains as anchors in it and gave you sweet water to drink.

And have placed therein firm and tall mountains and given you to drink of water fresh

And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water?

And set on it lofty mountains, and given you pure water to drink?

Neither shady nor protecting against the blazing Fire.

Neither shading nor availing against the flame.

"Neither shading, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire."

Offering no shade, and unavailing against the flames.

which neither provides (cooling) shade nor protection against the flames;

"Neither shady nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire."

(Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame.

Verily it shall cast forth sparks like Unto a castle.

Verily! It (Hell) throws sparks (huge) as Al-Qasr [a fort or a Qasr (huge log of wood)],

Verily, it (Hell) throws sparks (huge) as Al-Qasr,

Those who take heed for themselves and fear God, will be amidst shade and springs of water,

Verily the God-fearing shall be amid shades and springs,

Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) shall be amidst shades and springs.

Behold, today the God-fearing will be amidst shades and springs,

Verily, those who had Taqwa, shall be amidst shades and springs.

"Eat and drink with relish as reward for what you had done."

“Eat and drink with pleasure, the reward of your deeds.”
