1

I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai,

By the Mount,

— Maududi

By the Tur

— Mubarakpuri

By the Mount,

I swear by the Mountain,

By the Mount (of Revelation);

And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels);

— Hilali

And the frequented House.

by the much-frequented House,

— Maududi

And by Al-Bayt Al-Ma`mur.

— Mubarakpuri

And the House frequented,

— Pickthall

by the Visited House,

— Qaribullah

And [by] the frequented House

— Sahih

And the House (Kaaba) that is visited,

by the much-visited House,

By the much-frequented Fane;

The roof raised high,

And the lofty roof.

By the roof elevated.

And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven).

— Hilali

And the elevated roof.

— Itani

by the elevated canopy;

— Maududi

And the roof raised high.

And the roof exalted,

and the uplifted roof

— Qaribullah

And [by] the heaven raised high

And the elevated canopy

and by the lofty vault of the sky,

By the Canopy Raised High;

And the swollen sea,

And the sea set aflame.

— Ahmedraza

By the sea overflowing.

— Daryabadi

And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection).

— Hilali

And the seething sea.

— Itani

and by the swelling sea:

— Maududi

And by the sea that is Masjur.

— Mubarakpuri

And the sea kept filled,

— Pickthall

and the sea that is full

— Qaribullah

And [by] the sea filled [with fire],

— Sahih

And the swollen sea

— Shakir

and by the swelling sea,

— Wahiduddin

And by the Ocean filled with Swell;-

اور پانی سے لبریز سمندر کی

اور جوش مارتے ہوئے سمندر کی

اِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّکَ لَوَاقِعٌ ۙ﴿۷﴾

7

The punishment of your Lord is certain to come.

— Ahmedali

Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place.

— Ahmedraza

Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls

— Daryabadi

Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass,

— Hilali

The punishment of your Lord is coming.

— Itani

verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass,

— Maududi

Verily, the torment of your Lord will surely come to pass.

— Mubarakpuri

Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass;

— Pickthall

surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come,

— Qaribullah

Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur.

— Sahih

Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass;

— Shakir

the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass,

Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;-

کہ بیشک آپ کے پروردگار کا عذاب ضرور ہو کر رہے گا۔

کہ آپ کے پروردگار کا عذاب واقع ہو کے رہے گا۔

کہ یقینا تیرے رب کا عذاب ضرور واقع ہونے والا ہے۔

بیشک تیرے رب کا عذاب ضرور ہونا ہے

There is none who could avert it.

Of it there is no averter.

There is nothing to avert it.

none can avert that.

There is none that can avert it.

There is none that can ward it off.

Of it there is no preventer.

There shall be none to avert it;

The day the sky will tremble,

A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking.

— Ahmedraza

On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking.

— Daryabadi

On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking,

— Hilali

On the Day when the heaven sways in agitation.

— Itani

(It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion,

— Maududi

On the Day when Tamur the heaven Mawr,

— Mubarakpuri

On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving,

— Pickthall

Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily

— Qaribullah

On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion

— Sahih

On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side

— Shakir

on the Day when the skies are convulsed,

— Wahiduddin

On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion.

— Yusufali

اور اس روز ہوگا) جس روز آسمان تھرتھرانے لگے گا

جس دن آسمان تیزی سے لرزنے لگے گا

جس دن آسمان لرزے گا، سخت لرزنا۔

جس دن آسمان ہلنا سا ہلنا ہلیں گے

اس دن کو یاد رکھو جس دن آسمان ڈانواں ڈول ہوجائے گا

Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily

وَّ تَسِیۡرُ الۡجِبَالُ سَیۡرًا ﴿ؕ۱۰﴾

10

The mountains move and fly away,

— Ahmedali

And the mountains will move with a visible movement.

— Ahmedraza

And the mountains will move away with an awful movement.

— Daryabadi

And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement.

— Hilali

And the mountains go into motion.

— Itani

and the mountains shall violently fly about.

— Maududi

And Tasir the mountains Sayr.

— Mubarakpuri

And the mountains move away with (awful) movement,

— Pickthall

and the mountains move, moving.

— Qaribullah

And the mountains will pass on, departing -

— Sahih

And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether).

— Shakir

and the mountains shudder and shake.

— Wahiduddin

And the mountains will fly hither and thither.

— Yusufali

اور پہاڑ پھٹ پھٹ جائیں گے۔

— عبدالماجد دریابادی

اور پہاڑ تیزی سے اڑتے پھریں گے

— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی

اور پہاڑ چلیں گے، بہت چلنا۔

— عبدالسلام بھٹوی

اور پہاڑ چلنا سا چلنا چلیں گے

اور پہاڑ چلنے لگ جائیں گے ،

اور پہاڑ چل رہے ہوں گے جیسے چلا جاتا ہے۔

اور پہاڑ اُڑنے لگے اون ہو کر

اور پہاڑ چلنے پھرنے لگیں گے

اور پہاڑ ہولناک طریقے سے چل پڑیں گے۔

اور پہاڑ اڑے اڑے پھریں گے

اور پہاڑ (اپنی جگہ چھوڑ کر بادلوں کی طرح) تیزی سے اڑنے اور (ذرّات کی طرح) بکھرنے لگیں گے،

and the mountains are in motion,

and the mountains move with an awful motion:

and the mountains quickly move.

فَوَیۡلٌ یَّوۡمَئِذٍ لِّلۡمُکَذِّبِیۡنَ ﴿ۙ۱۱﴾

11

Will be the day of woe for those

— Ahmedali

So on that day, ruin is for those who deny.

— Ahmedraza

Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers

— Daryabadi

Then woe that Day to the beliers;

— Hilali

Woe on that Day to the deniers.

— Itani

Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message)

— Maududi

Then woe that Day to those who denied.

— Mubarakpuri

Then woe that day unto the deniers

— Pickthall

On that Day woe to those who belied

— Qaribullah

Then woe, that Day, to the deniers,

— Sahih

So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth),

— Shakir

Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth,

— Wahiduddin

Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;-

— Yusufali

سو بڑی شامت اس جھٹلانے والوں کی ہے

— عبدالماجد دریابادی

اس دن جھٹلانے والوں کے لئے تباہی ہے

— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی

تو اس دن جھٹلانے والوں کے لیے بڑی ہلاکت ہے۔

تو اس دن جھٹلانے والوں کی خرابی ہے

پس بد بختی ہے اس دن جھٹلانے والوں کی !

Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth

الَّذِیۡنَ ہُمۡ فِیۡ خَوۡضٍ یَّلۡعَبُوۡنَ ﴿ۘ۱۲﴾

12

Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries.

— Ahmedali

Those who are playing in pursuits.

— Ahmedraza

Those who in wading sport themselves.

— Daryabadi

Who are playing in falsehood.

— Hilali

Those who play with speculation.

— Itani

and amuse themselves with vain argumentation.

— Maududi

Those who were, in their falsehood, playing.

— Mubarakpuri

Who play in talk of grave matters;

— Pickthall

those who are in plunging, playing.

— Qaribullah

Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves.

— Sahih

Those who sport entering into vain discourses.

— Shakir

who divert themselves with idle chatter:

— Wahiduddin

That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles.

— Yusufali

جو بیہودگی کے ساتھ مشغلہ (تکذیب) میں لگے ہوئے ہیں

جو کج بحثیوں میں پڑے کھیل رہے ہیں

— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی

وہ جو فضول بحث میں کھیل رہے ہیں۔

وہ جو مشغلہ میں کھیل رہے ہیں،

ان کی جو سخن گستری میں لگے ہوئے کھیل رہے ہیں۔

وہ لوگ جو خوش گپیوں میں مصروف کھیل رہے ہیں۔

جو خوض (باطل) میں پڑے کھیل رہے ہیں

جو آج کھیل کے طور پر اپنی حجت بازیوں میں لگے ہوئے ہیں

جو باطل (بے ہودگی) میں پڑے غفلت کا کھیل کھیل رہے ہیں،

such as play at plunging,

—those who play around in vain talk,

and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations).

یَوۡمَ یُدَعُّوۡنَ اِلٰی نَارِ جَہَنَّمَ دَعًّا ﴿ؕ۱۳﴾

13

The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell,

— Ahmedali

A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell.

— Ahmedraza

On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push.

— Daryabadi

The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing.

— Hilali

The Day when they are shoved into the Fire of Hell forcefully.

— Itani

On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told):

— Maududi

The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing.

— Mubarakpuri

The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell

— Pickthall

On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell),

— Qaribullah

The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say],

— Sahih

The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence.

— Shakir

on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell.

— Wahiduddin

That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly.

— Yusufali

یہ وہ دن ہوگا جب انہیں ڈھکیل ڈھکیل کر آتش دوزخ کی طرف لائیں گے

— عبدالماجد دریابادی

جس دن انہیں دھکے مار مار کر آتش دوزخ کی طرف چلایا جائے گا

— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی

جس دن انھیں جہنم کی آگ کی طرف دھکیلا جائے گا، سخت دھکیلا جانا۔

Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done."

Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss,

Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace.

Verily the God-fearing will bein Gardens and Delight.

Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight.

But the righteous will be amid gardens and bliss.

Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss,

Verily, those who have Taqwa will be in Gardens and Delight.

Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight,

But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss,

Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure,

Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss

18

Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell.

— Ahmedali

Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire.

— Ahmedraza

Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed Unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame.

— Daryabadi

Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire.

— Hilali

Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord has spared them the suffering of Hell.

— Itani

enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire.

— Maududi

Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire.

— Mubarakpuri

Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire.

— Pickthall

rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell.

— Qaribullah

Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire.

Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire.

rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire,

Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire.

اس سے جو کچھ کہ ان کے پروردگار نے انہیں دیا ہوگا اور ان کا پروردگار انہیں عذاب دوزخ سے محفوظ رکھے گا

جو کچھ انہیں انکا پروردگار عطا کرے گا اس سے لطف اندوز ہوں گے اور ان کا پروردگار انہیں دوزخ کے عذاب سے بچا لے گا

لطف اٹھانے والے اس سے جو ان کے رب نے انھیں دیا اور ان کے رب نے انھیں بھڑکتی ہوئی آگ کے عذاب سے بچا لیا۔

"Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done."

“Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.”

Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working.

"Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do."

Eat and drink happily, for what you used to do.

(They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.”

(And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do,

مُتَّکِئِیۡنَ عَلٰی سُرُرٍ مَّصۡفُوۡفَۃٍ ۚ وَ زَوَّجۡنٰہُمۡ بِحُوۡرٍ عِیۡنٍ ﴿۲۰﴾

20

They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye.

Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes.

— Ahmedraza

Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed.

— Daryabadi

They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes.

— Hilali

Relaxing on luxurious furnishings; and We will couple them with gorgeous spouses.

— Itani

The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes.

— Maududi

They will recline on thrones Masfufah. And We shall marry them to Hur (fair females) with wide lovely eyes.

— Mubarakpuri

Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes.

— Pickthall

(They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes.

— Qaribullah

They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.

— Sahih

Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones.

— Shakir

reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes.

— Wahiduddin

They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes.

— Yusufali

تکیہ لگائے ہوں گے برابر بچھے ہوئے تختوں پر اور ہم ان کی تزویج کردیں گے گوری گوری بڑی بڑی آنکھ والیوں کے ساتھ۔

وہ قطار در قطار تختوں پر تکیہ لگائے ہوں گے اور ہم انہیں بڑی بڑی آنکھوں والی حوروں سے بیاہ دیں گے

ایسے تختوں پر تکیہ لگائے ہوئے ہوں گے جو قطاروں میں بچھائے ہوئے ہیں اور ہم نے ان کا نکاح سفید جسم، سیاہ آنکھوں والی عورتوں سے کردیا، جو بڑی بڑی آنکھوں والی ہیں۔

ٹیک لگائے ہوئے ہوں گے صف بہ صف، تختوں کے اوپر اور ہم ان کو بیا دیں گے غزال چشم حوریں

وَ الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَ اتَّبَعَتۡہُمۡ ذُرِّیَّتُہُمۡ بِاِیۡمَانٍ اَلۡحَقۡنَا بِہِمۡ ذُرِّیَّتَہُمۡ وَ مَاۤ اَلَتۡنٰہُمۡ مِّنۡ عَمَلِہِمۡ مِّنۡ شَیۡءٍ ؕ کُلُّ امۡرِیًٴۢ بِمَا کَسَبَ رَہِیۡنٌ ﴿۲۱﴾

21

And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does.

And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds.

— Ahmedraza

And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish Unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge.

And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned.

Those who believed and their offspring followed them in faith—We will unite them with their offspring, and We will not deprive them of any of their works. Every person is hostage to what he has earned.

We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did.

And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in faith, -- to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned.

And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned.

And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought.

To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned.

And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds.

اور جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور ان کی اولاد نے بھی ایمان میں ان کا ساتھ دیا ہم ان کے ساتھ ان کی اولاد کو بھی شامل کردیں گے اور ہم ان کے عمل میں سے کوئی چیز کم نہ ہونے دیں گے۔ ہر شخص اپنے اعمال میں محبوس رہے گا۔

اور جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور ان کی اولاد نے ایمان لانے میں ان کی پیروی کی تو ہم ان کی اولاد کو بھی ان کے ساتھ ملا دیں گے اور ان کے اپنے عملوں سے کچھ بھی کم نہ کریں گے ہر شخص اپنے ہی عملوں کے عوض گروی ہے۔

اور جو لوگ ایمان لائے ہیں اور ان کی اولاد نے بھی ایمان میں ان کی پیروی کی ہے تو ان کی اولاد کو ہم انہی کے ساتھ شامل کردیں گے، اور ان کے عمل میں سے کسی چیز کی کمی نہیں کریں گے۔ ہر انسان کی جان اپنی کمائی کے بدلے رہن رکھی ہوئی ہے۔

And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned.

The faithful and their descendants who followed them in faith—We will make their descendants join them, and We will not stint anything from [the reward of] their deeds. Every person is hostage to what he has earned.

The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions.

وَ اَمۡدَدۡنٰہُمۡ بِفَاکِہَۃٍ وَّ لَحۡمٍ مِّمَّا یَشۡتَہُوۡنَ ﴿۲۲﴾

We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire.

And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire.

And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire.

And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire.

And We will supply them with fruit, and meat; such as they desire.

We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire.

And We shall provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire.

23

They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin.

— Ahmedali

In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin.

— Ahmedraza

They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin.

— Daryabadi

There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink).

— Hilali

They will exchange therein a cup; wherein is neither harm, nor sin.

— Itani

They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin.

— Maududi

There they shall pass from hand to hand a cup, free from any idle talk, and free from sin.

— Mubarakpuri

There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin.

There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin,

They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin.

They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin.

There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin.

They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill.

ہاں آپس میں جام (شراب) پر چھینا جھپٹی بھی کریں گے کہ اس (شراب) میں نہ بک بک لگے گی اور نہ اور کوئی بیہودہ بات۔

وہاں وہ لپک لپک کر ایک دوسرے سے جام شراب لیں گے جس میں نہ یا وہ گوئی ہوگی اور نہ کوئی گناہ کا کام

وَ یَطُوۡفُ عَلَیۡہِمۡ غِلۡمَانٌ لَّہُمۡ کَاَنَّہُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤٌ مَّکۡنُوۡنٌ ﴿۲۴﴾

24

And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round.

— Ahmedali

And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden.

— Ahmedraza

And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden.

— Daryabadi

And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls.

— Hilali

Serving them will be youths like hidden pearls.

— Itani

Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them.

— Maududi

And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls.

And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls.

and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls.

There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected.

And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls.

They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells.

Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded.

اور ان کے پاس لڑکے آئیں جائیں گے جو ان کے لئے ہیں گویا وہ محفوظ موتی ہیں۔

وہاں ان کی خدمت پر مامور لڑکے چکر لگاتے رہیں گے اور وہ خود ایسے خوبصورت ہوں گے جیسے چھپا کر رکھے ہوئے موتی

اور ان پر چکر لگاتے رہیں گے انھی کے لڑکے، جیسے وہ چھپائے ہوئے موتی ہوں۔

اور ان کے خدمت گار لڑکے ان کے گرد پھریں گے گویا وہ موتی ہیں چھپا کر رکھے گئے

اور ان کے اردگرد نوجوان پھر رہے ہوں گے جو انہی (کی خدمت) کے لیے مخصوص ہوں گے، ایسے (خوبصورت) جیسے چھپا کر رکھے ہوئے موتی۔

اور اُن کی خدمت میں وہ لڑکے دوڑتے پھر رہے ہوں گے جو انہی کے لیے مخصوص ہوں گے ایسے خوبصورت جیسے چھپا کر رکھے ہوئے موتی

وَ اَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُہُمۡ عَلٰی بَعۡضٍ یَّتَسَآءَلُوۡنَ ﴿۲۵﴾

25

They will ask each other questions,

— Ahmedali

And one of them turned towards the other, questioning.

— Ahmedraza

And they will advance Unto each other asking questions.

— Daryabadi

And some of them draw near to others, questioning.

— Hilali

And they will approach one another, inquiring.

— Itani

They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events).

— Maududi

And some of them draw near to others, questioning.

— Mubarakpuri

And some of them draw near unto others, questioning,

— Pickthall

They will go to one another asking each other questions:

— Qaribullah

And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.

— Sahih

And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other.

They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other,

They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry.

وہ ایک دوسرے کی طرف متوجہ ہو کر بات چیت کریں گے

وہ ایک دوسرے کی طرف متوجہ ہو کر (گزشتہ حالات) پوچھیں گے

اور ان کے بعض بعض پر متوجہ ہوں گے، ایک دوسرے سے سوال کرتے ہوں گے۔

اور ان میں ایک نے دوسرے کی طرف منہ کیا پوچھتے ہوئے

Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home.

— Ahmedali

Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.”

— Ahmedraza

They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread.

— Daryabadi

Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah).

— Hilali

They will say, “Before this, we were fearful for our families.

— Itani

They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure).

— Maududi

Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid in the midst of our families."

— Mubarakpuri

Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious;

— Pickthall

'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful,

— Qaribullah

They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah].

— Sahih

Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families:

— Shakir

"Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure --

— Wahiduddin

They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people.

(اور یہ بھی) کہیں گے کہ ہم تو اس سے پہلے اپنے گھر میں بہت ڈرا کرتے تھے۔

27

But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind.

— Ahmedali

“So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.”

— Ahmedraza

Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch.

— Daryabadi

"But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire.

— Hilali

But God blessed us, and spared us the agony of the Fiery Winds.

— Itani

Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind.

— Maududi

"So Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire."

But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire.

We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful.

“Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.”

Verily we were wont to pray Unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful.'

— Daryabadi

"Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful."

— Hilali

Before this, we used to pray to Him. He is the Good, the Compassionate.”

Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.”

"Verily, We used to invoke Him before. Verily, He is the Most Subtle, the Most Merciful."

Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful.

29

Remind them, therefore, that by the grace of your Lord you are neither a soothsayer nor possessed.

— Ahmedali

Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), enlighten, for by the munificence of your Lord, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman.

— Ahmedraza

Wherefore admonish thou! thou art not, by the grace of thy Lord, a soothsayer or a madman.

— Daryabadi

Therefore, remind and preach (mankind, O Muhammad SAW of Islamic Monotheism). By the Grace of Allah, you are neither a soothsayer, nor a madman.

So remind. By the grace of your Lord, you are neither a soothsayer, nor a madman.

So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman.

Therefore, remind. By the grace of Allah, you are neither a Kahin nor a madman.

Therefor warn (men, O Muhammad). By the grace of Allah thou art neither soothsayer nor madman.

Therefore, remind. By the Favor of Allah, you are neither a soothsayer, nor mad.

So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman.

Therefore continue to remind, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer, or a madman.

Therefore continue to give warning, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer or a madman.

— Wahiduddin

Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed.

تو آپ سمجھاتے رہئے کیونکہ آپ اپنے پروردگار کے فضل سے نہ تو کاہن ہیں اور نہ مجنون ہیں۔

پس آپ نصیحت کرتے رہئے۔ اپنے رب کے فضل سے آپ کاہن یا مجنون نہیں

پس نصیحت کر، کیوں کہ تو اپنے رب کی مہربانی سے ہرگز نہ کسی طرح کاہن ہے اور نہ کوئی دیوانہ۔

تو اے محبوب! تم نصیحت فرماؤ کہ تم اپنے رب کے فضل سے نہ کاہن ہو نہ مجنون،

30

Do they say: "He is a poet for whom we expect an adverse turn of fortune?"

— Ahmedali

Or they allege, “He is a poet – we await a calamity of the times to befall him.”

— Ahmedraza

Or say they: a poet for whom we wait some adverse turn of fortune!

— Daryabadi

Or do they say: "(Muhammad SAW is) a poet! We await for him some calamity by time!

— Hilali

Or do they say, “A poet—we await for him a calamity of time”?

— Itani

Or do they say: “He is a poet for whom we await an adverse turn of fortune.”

— Maududi

Or do they say: "A poet! We await for him some calamity by time!"

— Mubarakpuri

Or say they: (he is) a poet, (one) for whom we may expect the accident of time?

— Pickthall

Or do they say: 'He is a poet, we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him'

— Qaribullah

Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?"

— Sahih

Or do they say: A poet, we wait for him the evil accidents of time.

— Shakir

If they say, "He is but a poet; we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him,"

Or do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!"

ہاں کیا یہ لوگ یہ کہتے ہیں کہ یہ شاعر ہیں اور ہم تو ان کے بارے میں حادثہ موت کا انتظار کررہے ہیں ؟

ہیں یا وہ کہتے ہیں کہ : یہ شاعر ہے جس کے متعلق ہم گردش ایام کے منتظر ہیں۔

یا وہ کہتے ہیں کہ یہ ایک شاعر ہے جس پر ہم زمانے کے حوادث کا انتظار کرتے ہیں ؟

Do they say, ‘[He is] a poet, for whom we await a fatal accident’?

Do they say, "He is only a poet and we are waiting to see him die!?"

قُلۡ تَرَبَّصُوۡا فَاِنِّیۡ مَعَکُمۡ مِّنَ الۡمُتَرَبِّصِیۡنَ ﴿ؕ۳۱﴾

31

Tell them: "Keep on expecting, I am expecting with you."

Proclaim, “Go on waiting – I too am waiting along with you.”

— Ahmedraza

Say thou: waits verily I am, with you, among the waiters.

— Daryabadi

Say (O Muhammad SAW to them): "Wait! I am with you, among the waiters!"

— Hilali

Say, “Go on waiting; I will be waiting with you.”

— Itani

Tell them: “Wait; I too am waiting with you.”

— Maududi

Say: "Wait! I am with you among those who wait!"

— Mubarakpuri

Say (unto them): Except (your fill)! Lo! I am with you among the expectant.

— Pickthall

Say: 'Wait if you will; I shall be waiting with you'

— Qaribullah

Say, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters."

— Sahih

Say: Wait, for surely I too with you am of those who wait.

— Shakir

say [to them], "Wait then: I too am waiting along with you!" --

Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!"

آپ کہہ دیجئے (بہتر ہے) انتظار کرو اور میں بھی تمہارے ساتھ انتظار کرنے والوں میں ہوں۔

آپ انہیں کہئے : تم بھی انتظار کرو ، میں بھی تمہارے ساتھ انتظار کرتا ہوں

Does their reasoning prompt them to this, or they are a people rebellious?

— Ahmedali

Is this what their senses tell them, or are they a rebellious people?

— Ahmedraza

Enjoin them their understandings to this? or are they a people conumacious?

— Daryabadi

Do their minds command them this [i.e. to tell a lie against you (Muhammad SAW)] or are they people exceeding the bounds (i.e. from Belief in Allah to disbelief).

— Hilali

Or is it that their dreams compel them to this? Or are they aggressive people?

— Itani

Do their minds prompt them to say such things, or are they a people immersed in transgression?”

— Maududi

Or do their minds command them this or are they people transgressing all bounds

— Mubarakpuri

Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk?

Or, do their intellects order them to do this? Or, are they an insolent people?

Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people?

Nay! do their understandings bid them this? Or are they an inordinate people?

is it their minds that prompt them [to say] this, or are they merely insolent people?

Is it that their faculties of understanding urge them to this, or are they but a people transgressing beyond bounds?

کیا ان کی عقلیں انہیں باتوں کی تعلیم کرتی ہیں یا یہ ہے کہ یہ ہیں ہی شریر لوگ ؟۔

کیا ان کی عقلیں ہی انہیں ایسی باتیں کرنے کا حکم دیتی ہیں یا پھر یہ لوگ ہیں ہی سرکش۔

اَمۡ یَقُوۡلُوۡنَ تَقَوَّلَہٗ ۚ بَلۡ لَّا یُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ ﴿ۚ۳۳﴾

Or do they say: "He has fabricated it?" In fact, they will never believe.

What! They say, “He has invented the Qur'an”? Rather they do not have faith.

— Ahmedraza

Or say they: he hath fabricated it: aye they will not believe.

Or do they say: "He (Muhammad SAW) has forged it (this Quran)?" Nay! They believe not!

Or do they have your Lord's treasures in their keeping? Or have absolute authority over them?

کیا ان کے پاس آپ کے پروردگار کی رحمت کے خزانے ہیں ؟ یا یہ ان (خزانوں) پر حکم چلانے والے ہیں ؟

یا ان کے پاس تیرے رب کے خزانے ہیں، یا وہی حکم چلانے والے ہیں ؟

38

Or do they have a ladder (climbing which) they can hear (the secrets of heaven)? Let one who has heard then bring a clear proof.

Or do they have any stairs, climbing upon which they eavesdrop? So their eavesdropper should bring some clear proof!

Have they a stairway whereby they overhear? Then let their listener bring an authority manifest.

— Daryabadi

Or have they a stairway (to heaven), by means of which they listen (to the talks of the angels)? Then let their listener produce some manifest proof.

— Hilali

Or do they have a stairway by means of which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear proof.

— Itani

Or do they have a ladder whereon they can climb and attempt to listen (to what is transpiring in the Higher Realm)? Then, let any of them who has listened to it produce a clear proof of it.

Or have they a stairway (to heaven), by means of which they listen Then let their listener produce some manifest proof.

Or have they any stairway (unto heaven) by means of which they overhear (decrees). Then let their listener produce some warrant manifest!

کیا ان کے پاس کوئی سیڑھی ہے کہ اس کے ذریعہ سے باتیں سن لیا کرتے ہیں ؟ تو ان میں سے جو سن آتا ہو وہ لائے (اپنے دعوی پر) کوئی کھلی دلیل۔

کیا ان کے پاس کوئی سیڑھی ہے جس پر چڑھ کر وہ (عالم بالا کی) باتیں سن آتے ہیں ؟ (اگر ایسی بات ہو) تو ان میں سے کوئی سننے والا صریح سند کے ساتھ وہ بات پیش کرے

یا ان کے پاس کوئی سیڑھی ہے جس پر وہ اچھی طرح سن لیتے ہیں ؟ تو ان کا سننے والا کوئی واضح دلیل پیش کرے۔

یا ان کے پاس کوئی زینہ ہے جس میں چڑھ کر سن لیتے ہیں تو ان کا سننے والا کوئی روشن سند لائے،

اَمۡ تَسۡـَٔلُہُمۡ اَجۡرًا فَہُمۡ مِّنۡ مَّغۡرَمٍ مُّثۡقَلُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۴۰﴾

40

Or do you demand any wages from them so that they are burdened with expense?

— Ahmedali

Or do you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) ask any fee from them, so they are burdened with the penalty?

Or askest thou a hire from them so that they are with debt laden?

— Daryabadi

Or is it that you (O Muhammad SAW) ask a wage from them (for your preaching of Islamic Monotheism) so that they are burdened with a load of debt?

Or do you demand a payment from them, and they are burdened by debt?

Or is it that you ask of them any recompense so that they should fear to be weighed down under the burden of debt?

Or is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?-

یا آپ ان سے کچھ معاوضہ طلب کرتے ہیں سو وہ اس تاوان کے بوجھ سے دبے جاتے ہیں ؟

اَمۡ یُرِیۡدُوۡنَ کَیۡدًا ؕ فَالَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا ہُمُ الۡمَکِیۡدُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۴۲﴾

Or do they want to stage a deception? -- Then only those who do not believe will be the ones who will be tricked.

Or are they planning a conspiracy? So the conspiracy will befall only upon the disbelievers.

— Ahmedraza

Seek they to lay a plot? Then those who disbelieve it is they who shall be plotted against.

— Daryabadi

Or do they intend a plot (against you O Muhammad SAW)? But those who disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) are themselves in a plot!

— Hilali

Or are they planning a conspiracy? The conspiracy will befall the disbelievers.

— Itani

Or are they contriving a stratagem against you? If so, that stratagem will rebound against the unbelievers.

— Maududi

Or do they intend a plot But those who disbelieve are themselves plotted against!

Or seek they to ensnare (the messenger)? But those who disbelieve, they are the ensnared!

Or, do they desire to outwit? The unbelievers are the outwitted.

Or do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve - they are the object of a plan.

Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war.

Do they want to hatch some plot? Those who deny the truth will be the victims of the plot.

Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot!

کیا یہ لوگ برائی کا ارادہ رکھتے ہیں ؟ سو یہ کافر خود ہی برائی میں گرفتار ہوں گے۔

یا یہ کوئی چال چلنا چاہتے ہیں ؟ حالانکہ یہ کافر خود ہی اس چال میں پھنسنے والے ہیں

یا وہ کوئی چال چلنا چاہتے ہیں ؟ تو جن لوگوں نے کفر کیا وہی چال میں آنے والے ہیں۔

یا کسی داؤ ں (فریب) کے ارادہ میں ہیں تو کافروں پر ہی داؤں (فریب) پڑنا ہے

کیا وہ کوئی چال چلنی چاہتے ہیں تو یاد رکھیں کہ جنہوں نے کفر کیا وہی اس چال میں گرفتار ہوں گے

کیا یہ لوگ کوئی چال چلنا چاہتے ہیں ؟ اصل میں تو یہ کافر خود ہی چال کا شکار ہوگئے ہیں۔

کیا یہ کوئی مکر کرنا چاہتے ہیں ؟ تو درحقیقت جو کافر ہیں، مکر تو انہی پر پڑے گا۔

کیا یہ کوئی چال چلنا چاہتے ہیں؟ (اگر یہ بات ہے) تو کفر کرنے والوں پر ان کی چال الٹی ہی پڑے گی

کیا وہ (آپ سے) کوئی چال چلنا چاہتے ہیں، تو جن لوگوں نے کفر کیا ہے وہ خود ہی اپنے دامِ فریب میں پھنسے جا رہے ہیں،

Or desire they to outwit? The unbelievers, they are the outwitted.

Do they seek to outmaneuver [Allah]? But it is the faithless who are the outmaneuvered ones!

Do they design evil plans? The disbelievers themselves will be snared by their evil plots.

اَمۡ لَہُمۡ اِلٰہٌ غَیۡرُ اللّٰہِ ؕ سُبۡحٰنَ اللّٰہِ عَمَّا یُشۡرِکُوۡنَ ﴿۴۳﴾

43

Or do they have a god apart from God? He is too exalted for what they associate with Him!

Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him.

— Ahmedraza

Is theirs a god beside Allah? Hallowed be Allah from that which they associate!

— Daryabadi

Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him)

— Hilali

Or do they have a god besides God? God transcends what they associate.

— Itani

Do they have any god other than Allah? Exalted be Allah above whatever they associate (with Him in His Divinity).

— Maududi

Or have they a god other than Allah Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners.

— Mubarakpuri

Or have they any god beside Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)!

— Pickthall

Or, do they have a god, other than Allah? Exaltations to Allah above that which they associate!

— Qaribullah

Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.

— Sahih

Or have they a god other than Allah? Glory be to Allah from what they set up (with Him).

Or have they a god other than God? Exalted be God over what they ascribe as partners [to Him]!

Or have they a god other than Allah? Exalted is Allah far above the things they associate with Him!

کیا ان کا اللہ کے سوا کوئی اور خدا ہے ؟ پاک ہے اللہ ان کے شرک سے

کیا اللہ کے سوا ان کا کوئی اور الٰہ ہے ؟ اللہ ان سب باتوں سے پاک ہے جن میں یہ اس کا شریک بناتے ہیں

یا ان کا اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود ہے ؟ پاک ہے اللہ اس سے جو وہ شریک بناتے ہیں۔

یا اللہ کے سوا ان کا کوئی اور خدا ہے اللہ کو پاکی ان کے شرک سے،

کیا اللہ کے سوا ان کا کوئی اور خدا ہے ؟ پاک ہے اللہ اس شرک سے جو یہ کر رہے ہیں۔

کیا اللہ کے سوا یہ کوئی اور معبود رکھتے ہیں؟ اللہ پاک ہے اُس شرک سے جو یہ لوگ کر رہے ہیں

Do they have any god other than Allah? Clear is Allah of any partners that they may ascribe [to Him]!

Do they have another god besides God? God is too exalted to be considered equal to the idols.

وَ اِنۡ یَّرَوۡا کِسۡفًا مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًا یَّقُوۡلُوۡا سَحَابٌ مَّرۡکُوۡمٌ ﴿۴۴﴾

44

If they should see a segment falling from the sky, they would say: "It is only a massive cloud."

— Ahmedali

And were they to see a portion of the sky falling, they will say, “It is a heap of clouds.”

— Ahmedraza

And if they should see a fragment of the heaven falling down, they would say: it is only clouds piled up.

— Daryabadi

And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!"

— Hilali

Even if they were to see lumps of the sky falling down, they would say, “A mass of clouds.”

— Itani

(So obstinate are they that) even if they were to see some fragments of the sky falling down they would still say: “It is only a mass of cloud.”

— Maududi

And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!"

— Mubarakpuri

And if they were to see a fragment of the heaven falling, they would say: A heap of clouds.

— Pickthall

Even if they saw lumps falling from the sky they would say: 'A massed cloud'

And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up."

— Sahih

And if they should see a portion of the heaven coming down, they would say: Piled up clouds.

— Shakir

If they should see a part of the heavens falling down, they would say, "A mass of clouds,"

— Wahiduddin

Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!"

— Yusufali

اور اگر یہ آسمان کا کوئی ٹکڑا گرتا ہوا دیکھ گرتا ہوا دیکھ لیں تو بھی یہی کہیں کہ یہ تو تہ بہ تہ جما ہوا بادل ہے

— عبدالماجد دریابادی

اگر یہ لوگ آسمان سے سے کوئی گرتا ہوا ٹکڑا بھی دیکھ لیں تو کہہ دیں گے کہ یہ تہ بہ تہ بادل ہے۔

اور اگر وہ آسمان سے گرتا ہوا کوئی ٹکڑا دیکھ لیں تو کہہ دیں گے یہ ایک تہ بہ تہ بادل ہے۔

اور اگر آسمان سے کوئی ٹکڑا گرتا دیکھیں تو کہیں گے تہ بہ تہ بادل ہے

اور اگر یہ آسمان سے کوئی ٹکڑا بھی گرتا ہوا دیکھیں گے تو کہیں گے یہ توتہہ پہ تہہ بادل ہے

اور اگر کبھی یہ دیکھیں آسمان کا کوئی ٹکڑا گرتا ہوا تو کہیں گے کہ یہ تو بادل ہیں تہ بر تہ۔

اور اگر یہ آسمان سے (عذاب) کا کوئی ٹکڑا گرتا ہوا دیکھیں تو کہیں کہ یہ گاڑھا بادل ہے

اگر یہ لوگ آسمان کے کسی ٹکڑے کو گرتا ہوا دیکھ لیں تب بھی کہہ دیں کہ یہ تہ بہ تہ بادل ہے

اور اگر یہ آسمان کا کوئی ٹکڑا گرتے ہوئے بھی دیکھ لیں تو یہ کہیں گے کہ یہ کوئی گہرا بادل ہے۔

یہ لوگ آسمان کے ٹکڑے بھی گرتے ہوئے دیکھ لیں تو کہیں گے یہ بادل ہیں جو امڈے چلے آ رہے ہیں

اور اگر وہ آسمان سے کوئی ٹکڑا (اپنے اوپر) گرتا ہوا دیکھ لیں تو (تب بھی یہ) کہیں گے کہ تہ بہ تہ (گہرا) بادل ہے،

Even if they saw lumps falling from heaven, they would say, 'A massed cloud!'

Were they to see a fragment falling from the sky, they would say, ‘A cumulous cloud.’

Even if they were to see a part of the heavens falling down upon them, they would say, "It is only dense cloud".

فَذَرۡہُمۡ حَتّٰی یُلٰقُوۡا یَوۡمَہُمُ الَّذِیۡ فِیۡہِ یُصۡعَقُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۴۵﴾

45

So, leave them until they face their day (of doom) when they will be stunned.

— Ahmedali

Therefore leave them, until they confront their day, in which they will be stunned.

— Ahmedraza

Wherefore let them alone, till they meet their Day whereon they shall swoon.

— Daryabadi

So leave them alone till they meet their Day, in which they will sink into a fainting (with horror).

— Hilali

So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be stunned.

— Itani

So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs when they shall be struck down,

— Maududi

So leave them alone till they meet their Day, in which they will sink into a fainting (with horror).

— Mubarakpuri

Then let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be thunder-stricken,

— Pickthall

So leave them till they encounter their Day in which they shall be thunderstruck.

— Qaribullah

So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible -

Leave them then till they meet that day of theirs wherein they shall be made to swoon (with terror):

so leave them alone till they face the Day on which they will be struck dumb,

— Wahiduddin

So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),-

تو انہیں چھوڑے رہئے یہاں تک کہ انہیں اپنا وہ دن پیش آئے جس میں ان کے ہوش اڑ جائیں گے۔

لہٰذا انہیں (ان کے حال پر) چھوڑیئے تاآنکہ اپنے اس دن کو جاملیں جس میں یہ بےہوش ہو کر گرپڑیں گے

— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی

پس انھیں چھوڑ دے، یہاں تک کہ وہ اپنے اس دن کو جا ملیں جس میں وہ بےہوش کیے جائیں گے۔

تو تم انہیں چھوڑ دو یہاں تک کہ وہ اپنے اس دن سے ملیں جس میں بے ہوش ہوں گے

تو ان کو چھوڑو، یہاں تک کہ یہ اپنے اس دن سے دو چار ہوں جس دن دن ان کے ہوش جاتے رہیں گے

تو (اے نبی ﷺ !) چھوڑے رکھیے ان کو یہاں تک کہ وہ اپنے اس دن سے دوچار ہوں جس میں ان پر بجلی کی کڑک گرے گی۔

پس ان کو چھوڑ دو یہاں تک کہ وہ روز جس میں وہ بےہوش کردیئے جائیں گے، سامنے آجائے

تو انہیں چھوڑ دے یہاں تک کہ انہیں اس دن سے سابقہ پڑے جس میں یہ بے ہوش کر دیئے جائیں گے

لہذا (اے پیغمبر) تم انہیں (ان کے حال پر) چھوڑ دو ، یہاں تک کہ یہ اپنے اس دن سے جا ملیں جس میں ان کے ہوش جاتے رہیں گے۔

پس اے نبیؐ، اِنہیں اِن کے حال پر چھوڑ دو یہاں تک کہ یہ اپنے اُس دن کو پہنچ جائیں جس میں یہ مار گرائے جائیں گے

سو آپ اُن کو (اُن کے حال پر) چھوڑ دیجئے یہاں تک کہ وہ اپنے اس دن سے آملیں جس میں وہ ہلاک کر دیئے جائیں گے،

Then leave them, till they encounter their day wherein they shall be thunderstruck,

So leave them alone until they face the day when they will be struck dead from terror

یَوۡمَ لَا یُغۡنِیۡ عَنۡہُمۡ کَیۡدُہُمۡ شَیۡئًا وَّ لَا ہُمۡ یُنۡصَرُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۴۶﴾

46

Their deception will not avail them in the least on that day, nor will they be helped.

— Ahmedali

A day on which their scheming will not benefit them at all, nor will they be helped.

— Ahmedraza

A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured.

— Daryabadi

The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all nor will they be helped (i.e. they will receive their torment in Hell).

— Hilali

The Day when their ploys will avail them nothing; and they will not be helped.

— Itani

when their stratagem shall be of no avail to them, nor shall they be succoured.

— Maududi

The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all, nor will they be helped.

— Mubarakpuri

A day in which their guile will naught avail them, nor will they be helped.

— Pickthall

The Day when their guile shall not relieve them a thing, and they shall not be helped.

— Qaribullah

The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped.

The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped.

the Day when none of their scheming will be of the least avail to them, and they will receive no succour.

The Day when their plotting will avail them nothing and no help shall be given them.

جس دن ان کی تدبیریں ان کے کچھ بھی کام نہ آئیں گی اور نہ انہیں مدد ہی ملے گی۔

جس دن ان کی کوئی چال ان کے کسی کام نہ آئے گی نہ ہی انہیں کہیں سے مدد مل سکے گی۔

جس دن نہ ان کی چال ان کے کسی کام آئے گی اور نہ ان کی مدد کی جائے گی۔

جس دن ان کا داؤ ں (فریب) کچھ کام نہ دے گا اور نہ ان کی مدد ہو

جس دن نہ ان کی چال ان کے کچھ کام آئے گی اور نہ ان کی کوئی مدد ہی ہوگی۔

وَ اِنَّ لِلَّذِیۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡا عَذَابًا دُوۡنَ ذٰلِکَ وَ لٰکِنَّ اَکۡثَرَہُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُوۡنَ ﴿۴۷﴾

47

Surely there are other torments besides this for those who are wicked, though most of them do not know.

— Ahmedali

And indeed for the unjust is another punishment before this, but most of them do not know. (Punishment in the grave is proven by this verse.)

And verily for those who do wrong there is a torment before that; but most of them know not.

بلاشبہ ظالموں کے لئے اس اخروی عذاب کے علاوہ (دنیا میں بھی) عذاب ہے۔ لیکن اکثر لوگ جانتے نہیں۔

اور یقینا ان لوگوں کے لیے جنھوں نے ظلم کیا، اس (آخرت) سے پہلے بھی ایک عذاب ہے، اور لیکن ان کے اکثر نہیں جانتے۔

Await the judgement of your Lord, for you are always before Our eyes, and glorify your Lord with praises when you rise,

And be patient upon your Lord’s command, (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), for you are indeed in Our sight; and proclaim the Purity of your Lord while praising Him, whenever you stand.

— Ahmedraza

And wait thou patiently the judgment of thy Lord; verily thou art before Our eyes; and hallow the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest.

— Daryabadi

So wait patiently (O Muhammad SAW) for the Decision of your Lord, for verily, you are under Our Eyes, and glorify the Praises of your Lord when you get up from sleep.

So patiently await the decision of your Lord, for you are before Our Eyes; and proclaim the praises of your Lord when you arise.

Be patient, then, (O Prophet), until the judgement of your Lord comes. For surely you are before Our eyes. And celebrate the praise of your Lord when you rise,

So wait patiently for the decision of your Lord, for verily, you are under Our Eyes; and glorify the praises of your Lord when you get up.

So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest,

And be patient under the Judgement of your Lord, surely, you are before Our Eyes. And exalt with the praise of your Lord when you arise,

And be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes. And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord when you arise.

And wait patiently for the judgment of your Lord, for surely you are before Our eyes, and sing the praise of your Lord when you rise;

So wait patiently for the Judgement of your Lord -- you are certainly under Our watchful eye. And glorify and celebrate the praises of your Lord when you rise up [from your sleep].

Now await in patience the command of thy Lord: for verily thou art in Our eyes: and celebrate the praises of thy Lord the while thou standest forth,

آپ اپنے پروردگار کی تجویز پر صبر سے قائم رہئے اس لئے کہ آپ تو عین ہماری حفاظت میں ہیں۔ اور آپ اپنے پروردگار کی حمد وتسبیح کیا کیجئے جب اٹھا کیجئے

(اے نبی ﷺ آپ اپنے پروردگار کا حکم آنے تک صبر کیجئے۔ بلاشبہ آپ ہماری آنکھوں کے سامنے ہیں اور جب آپ اٹھا کریں تو اپنے پروردگار کی حمد کے ساتھ اس کی تسبیح کیجئے۔

And be thou patient under the judgment of thy Lord; surely thou art before Our eyes. And proclaim the praise of thy Lord when thou arisest,

So submit patiently to the judgement of your Lord, for indeed you fare before Our eyes. And celebrate the praise of your Lord when you rise [at dawn],

Wait patiently for the command of your Lord. We are watching over you. Glorify your Lord when you rise during the night

And glorify Him in the night and when the stars begin to wane.

And proclaim His Purity during the night, and when the stars turn back.

And in the night also hallow Him, and at the setting of the stars.
