اَرَءَیۡتَ الَّذِیۡ یُکَذِّبُ بِالدِّیۡنِ ؕ﴿۱﴾

HAVE YOU SEEN him who denies the Day of Judgement?

— Ahmedali

Just look at him, who belies the religion!

— Ahmedraza

Beholdest thou him who belieth the Requital?

— Daryabadi

Have you seen him who denies the Recompense?

— Hilali

Have you considered him who denies the religion?

— Itani

Did you see him who gives the lie to the Reward and Punishment of the Hereafter?

— Maududi

Have you seen him who denies Ad-Din

— Mubarakpuri

Hast thou observed him who belieth religion?

— Pickthall

Have you seen he who belied the Recompense?

— Qaribullah

Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?

— Sahih

Have you considered him who calls the judgment a lie?

Seest thou one who denies the Judgment (to come)?

بھلا تو نے اس شخص کو بھی دیکھا ہے جو روز جزاء کو جھٹلا تا ہے ؟

Hast thou seen him who cries lies to the Doom?

Have you seen the one who calls the religion a lie?

فَذٰلِکَ الَّذِیۡ یَدُعُّ الۡیَتِیۡمَ ۙ﴿۲﴾

It is he who pushes the orphan away,

— Ahmedali

So it is he, who pushes away the orphan,

— Ahmedraza

It is he who pusheth away the orphan,

— Daryabadi

That is he who repulses the orphan (harshly),

— Hilali

It is he who mistreats the orphan.

— Itani

Such is the one who repulses the orphans away,

— Maududi

That is he who repulses the orphan,

— Mubarakpuri

That is he who repelleth the orphan,

— Pickthall

It is he who turns away the orphan

— Qaribullah

For that is the one who drives away the orphan

— Sahih

That is the one who treats the orphan with harshness,

— Shakir

Who turns away the orphan,

— Wahiduddin

Then such is the (man) who repulses the orphan (with harshness),

سو وہ وہ شخص جو یتیم کو دھکے دیتا ہے

یہی تو ہے جو یتیم کو دھکے دیتا ہے

تو یہی ہے جو یتیم کو دھکے دیتا ہے۔

پھر وہ وہ ہے جو یتیم کو دھکے دیتا ہے

وَ لَا یَحُضُّ عَلٰی طَعَامِ الۡمِسۡکِیۡنِ ؕ﴿۳﴾

And does not induce others to feed the needy.

— Ahmedali

And does not urge to feed the needy.

— Ahmedraza

And urgeth not the feeding of the poor,

— Daryabadi

And urges not the feeding of AlMiskin (the poor),

— Hilali

And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.

— Itani

and urges not the feeding of the needy.

— Maududi

And urges not the feeding of Al-Miskin.

— Mubarakpuri

And urgeth not the feeding of the needy.

— Pickthall

and does not urge others to feed the needy.

— Qaribullah

And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.

— Sahih

And does not urge (others) to feed the poor.

— Shakir

and who does not urge the feeding of the poor?

— Wahiduddin

And encourages not the feeding of the indigent.

— Yusufali

اور محتاجوں کے لئے کھانا دینے کی ترغیب نہیں دیتا۔

— عبدالماجد دریابادی

اور مسکین کو کھانا کھلانے کی ترغیب (بھی) نہیں دیتا

— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی

اور مسکین کو کھانا دینے کی ترغیب نہیں دیتا۔

اور مسکین کو کھانا دینے کی رغبت نہیں دیتا

اور مسکینوں کو کھلانے پر نہیں ابھارتا۔

اور نہ وہ مسکین کو کھانا کھلانے کی تلقین کرتا ہے۔

اور فقیر کو کھانا کھلانے کے لیے (لوگوں کو) ترغیب نہیں دیتا

اور محتاج کو کھانا کھلانے کی ترغیب نہیں دیتا (یعنی معاشرے سے غریبوں اور محتاجوں کے معاشی اِستحصال کے خاتمے کی کوشش نہیں کرتا)،

and urges not the feeding of the needy.

and does not urge the feeding of the needy.

and never encourages the feeding of the destitute.

فَوَیۡلٌ لِّلۡمُصَلِّیۡنَ ۙ﴿۴﴾

Woe to those who pray

— Ahmedali

So ruin is to those offerers of prayer –

— Ahmedraza

Woe, therefore, Unto such performers of prayer.

— Daryabadi

So woe unto those performers of Salat (prayers) (hypocrites),

— Hilali

So woe to those who pray.

— Itani

Woe, then, to those who pray,

— Maududi

So, woe unto those performers of Salah,

— Mubarakpuri

Ah, woe unto worshippers

— Pickthall

Woe to those who pray,

— Qaribullah

So woe to those who pray

— Sahih

So woe to the praying ones,

— Shakir

So woe to those who pray

— Wahiduddin

So woe to the worshippers

— Yusufali

سو بڑی خرابی ہے ایسے نمازیوں کے لئے

— عبدالماجد دریابادی

پھر ایسے نمازیوں کے لیے (بھی) ہلاکت ہے

— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی

پس ان نمازیوں کے لیے بڑی ہلاکت ہے۔

تو ان نمازیوں کی خرابی ہے،

پس ہلاکی ہے ان نماز پڑھنے والوں کے لئے

تو بربادی ہے ان نماز پڑھنے والوں کے لیے

تو ایسے نمازیوں کی خرابی ہے

پس افسوس (اور خرابی) ہے ان نمازیوں کے لئے،

So woe to those that pray

Woe to the worshippers

— Sarwar

الَّذِیۡنَ ہُمۡ عَنۡ صَلَاتِہِمۡ سَاہُوۡنَ ۙ﴿۵﴾

But who are oblivious of their moral duties,

— Ahmedali

Those who are neglectful of their prayer.

— Ahmedraza

As are of their prayer careless.

— Daryabadi

Who delay their Salat (prayer) from their stated fixed times,

— Hilali

Those who are heedless of their prayers.

— Itani

but are heedless in their Prayers,

— Maududi

Those who with their Salah are Sahun.

— Mubarakpuri

Who are heedless of their prayer;

— Pickthall

who are heedless of their prayers (delaying them from their prescribed times),

— Qaribullah

[But] who are heedless of their prayer -

— Sahih

Who are unmindful of their prayers,

— Shakir

but whose hearts are not in their prayer.

— Wahiduddin

Who are neglectful of their prayers,

— Yusufali

جو اپنی نماز کو بھلا بیٹھتے ہیں

جو اپنی نماز سے غافل رہتے ہیں

وہ جو اپنی نماز سے غافل ہیں۔

جو اپنی نماز سے بھولے بیٹھے ہیں

جو اپنی نمازوں سے بیخبر ہیں۔

who become confused during their prayers,

الَّذِیۡنَ ہُمۡ یُرَآءُوۡنَ ۙ﴿۶﴾

Who dissimulate

Those who make a display (of their deeds).

— Ahmedraza

They who would be seen,

— Daryabadi

Those who do good deeds only to be seen (of men),

— Hilali

Those who put on the appearance.

— Itani

those who do good (in order) to be seen,

— Maududi

Those who do good deeds only to be seen,

— Mubarakpuri

Who would be seen (at worship)

— Pickthall

who show off,

— Qaribullah

Those who make show [of their deeds]

— Sahih

Who do (good) to be seen,

— Shakir

Those who do things only to be seen by others.

— Wahiduddin

Those who (want but) to be seen (of men),

— Yusufali

(اور) جو ایسے ہیں کہ ریاء کاری کرتے ہیں۔

جو ریا کاری کرتے ہیں

وہ جو دکھاوا کرتے ہیں۔

وہ جو دکھاوا کرتے ہیں

جو ریاکاری کرتے ہیں

یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جو دکھاوا کرتے ہیں۔

وہ لوگ (عبادت میں) دکھلاوا کرتے ہیں (کیونکہ وہ خالق کی رسمی بندگی بجا لاتے ہیں اور پسی ہوئی مخلوق سے بے پرواہی برت رہے ہیں)،

to those who make display

—who show off

who show off (his good deeds)

— Sarwar

وَ یَمۡنَعُوۡنَ الۡمَاعُوۡنَ ٪﴿۷﴾

And withhold things of common use (from others).

— Ahmedali

And do not let others ask for small utilities.

— Ahmedraza

And who withholds even common necessaries.

— Daryabadi

And refuse Al-Ma'un (small kindnesses e.g. salt, sugar, water, etc.).

— Hilali

And withhold the assistance.

— Itani

and deny people the articles of common necessity.

— Maududi

And withhold Al-Ma`un.

— Mubarakpuri

Yet refuse small kindnesses!

— Pickthall

and prevent the utensils of assistance.

— Qaribullah

And withhold [simple] assistance.

— Sahih

And withhold the necessaries of life.

— Shakir

Who are uncharitable even over very small things.

— Wahiduddin

But refuse (to supply) (even) neighbourly needs.

— Yusufali

اور حقیر چیزوں تک کو روکے رہتے ہیں۔

— عبدالماجد دریابادی

اور معمولی برتنے کی چیزیں (بھی مانگنے پر) نہیں دیتے۔

— عبدالرحمٰن کیلانی

اور عام برتنے کی چیزیں روکتے ہیں۔

— عبدالسلام بھٹوی

اور بر تنے کی چیز مانگے نہیں دیتے

— احمد رضا خان

اور ادنیٰ چیزوں میں بھی بخالت کرتے ہیں۔

اور عام استعمال کی چیز بھی (مانگنے پر) نہیں دیتے۔

اور برتنے کی چیزیں عاریتہً نہیں دیتے

اور برتنے کی چیز روکتے ہیں

اور دوسروں کو معمولی چیز دینے سے بھی انکار کرتے ہیں۔

اور معمولی ضرورت کی چیزیں (لوگوں کو) دینے سے گریز کرتے ہیں

اور وہ برتنے کی معمولی سی چیز بھی مانگے نہیں دیتے،
